Hi, I’m Lee Wagner

Poised to Perform Committed to Connection

I have worked in various job roles throughout the past 5 years. There were the hard labor factory jobs that I am sure I do not wish to do. There were event centers like the Convocation Center At NIU. Customer service was good, standing in the cold not so much. I worked for nonprofits like Asian Human Services helping them to build a social media presence. Then there was Shoreline Sightseeing. I was a deckhand. I had fun greeting the guests, and seeing if I could say something that would spark a connection in the brief interactions we were supposed to have. Employees usually are like background noise for people even when speaking to them. Getting them to notice me and have a positive interaction was always a pleasure. I worked at Windy City Fieldhouse hosting corporate teambuilding exercises for companies. After all these experiences, it was only recently that I found out what I desired to do.

At the Greenwood Project, I worked as a Peer Coach teaching seniors in high school about finance, and professionalism, and training them to do stock pitches. I was allowed to work alongside the event coordinator. Greeting professionals and coordinating events. and helping to host events made me desire to do more event planning and led to me to investigate the career path of public relations.

A majority of the roles I have had in the past fit into the role of public relations. Whether it’s social media management, event planning, content creation, analytics, or collaboration, the internships, and jobs I worked have prepared me for a role in public relations.

Working at Asian Human Services as a social media intern. I gained a deep understanding of the interconnectedness between brands, stakeholders, and the media landscape.

Now I excel in crafting tailored communication strategies that effectively engage target audiences, build brand loyalty, and drive positive perceptions. Whether developing comprehensive media campaigns, managing crisis communications, or cultivating meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, I use my expertise to deliver results that align with organizational objectives.

As a deckhand at Shoreline Sightseeing, I honed my skills in creating memorable experiences and fostering connections with guests, demonstrating a talent for engaging stakeholders and building rapport in brief interactions. Additionally, my role at Windy City Fieldhouse involved hosting corporate teambuilding exercises, showcasing my ability to facilitate positive interactions and promote collaboration among participants.

My diverse experiences have given me the variety of skills necessary to succeed in public relations. Asking to work with the events coordinator during my internship prepared me to do more practical public relations work and engage with individuals in the field. I am poised to leverage my diverse background and skill set to excel in public relations. Whether crafting compelling narratives, engaging stakeholders, or managing events, I am committed to advancing the goals and objectives of organizations while ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all stakeholders involved.”
